47 km S Valencia (pop 2,429 ; local time 22:00:23.4 2012-12-19)

WEATHER SITUATION IN THE PHILIPPINES
November 2012

The equatorial tropical Pacific remains under El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) - neutral
condition for the month of November. The equatorial sea surface temperature (SST) continued to
be above average or slightly warmer across much of the Pacific Ocean but still within the neutral
condition.
The weather systems that influenced the country during November were the Northeast (NE)
monsoon, ridge of High Pressure Area (HPA), Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and Low
Pressure Areas (LPAs). No tropical cyclone entered or developed within the Philippine Area of
Responsibility (PAR).
Rainfall analysis for November showed that most part of the Philippines (Region I — VII except
Bohol) experienced below normal rainfall condition. Near normal rainfall were experienced in
eastern and western Samar, southern Leyte, Zamboanga Peninsula (Region IX), most of Region X
and XI including South Cotabato, Saranggani and Basilan. On the other hand, above normal
rainfall were observed over Davao Oriental, CARAGA (Region XIII) and the province of Sulu.
Warmer than average mean air temperatures were observed in most areas of the country.
Weather Outlook for December 2012
Most of the ENSO prediction models forecast an ENSO-neutral condition that will persist up to the
first quarter of 2013.
Weather systems that will likely affect the country in December are the NE monsoon, LPA, and
ridge of HPA and occurrence of one (1) or two (2) tropical cyclones.
Above normal rainfall condition is expected over most parts of Luzon including Catanduanes
Island, Palawan, Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, Saranggani, Basilan, Sulu, and small areas
adjacent to Zamboanga City. Floodings and landslides are possible in low lying and mountainous
areas respectively. Small patches of areas with below normal rainfall condition is expected over
the provinces of Zambales, Aurora, Ilocos Sur, and areas south of Mindoro. Likewise, most parts
of Visayas  except Panay Island are forecasted to have below normal rainfall pattern but with
much wider coverage extending over CARAGA region, Misamis Occidental, Zamboanga del Sur
and adjacent areas of Zamboanga del Norte. The rest of the country will likely experience near
normal rainfall.
Warmer than normal temperature will be likely felt ov
